Who is Kelly Sun?

I am qualified in both China and the UK, and have successfully treated many thousands of patients in both countries. My parents were medical doctors in China, and I have built extensively on their experience in both Traditional Chinese and Western medicine.

My treatments are based on a combined knowledge of both systems, which allows treatment to be very precisely tailored to individual needs.

For two decades, I have honed my expertise in acupuncture to help my patients achieve optimal health at my Wimbledon Acupuncture clinic, and now also offer my services at the prestigious Harley Street.

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture?

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an ancient form of medicine practiced in China for over 3000 years. The aim of Traditional Chinese medicine, which includes acupuncture, herbal medicine and body-based mindfulness practices is to treat the person as a whole. This approach can result in reduction or elimination of symptoms and a marked improvement in well being.

TCM has a wide range of benefits that make it a popular form of alternative medicine. One of its main benefits is that it takes a holistic approach to health and wellness, treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms of a particular illness. By focusing on the underlying causes of illness, TCM can help to prevent the development of chronic conditions and promote optimal health.

What are the Benefits of TCM?

Another benefit of TCM is that it uses natural and non-invasive therapies, such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, and dietary therapy, which can be effective in treating a wide range of health conditions. These therapies are generally safe and have fewer side effects than conventional medicine, making them a popular choice for people who want to avoid or reduce their reliance on medication.

TCM can also be used in conjunction with conventional medicine to enhance its effectiveness and minimise its side effects. For example, acupuncture can be used to manage pain and reduce the need for pain medication after surgery, while herbal medicine can be used to manage side effects of chemotherapy.

Overall, the benefits of TCM are many, and its effectiveness has been recognized for thousands of years. By promoting balance and harmony in the body and mind, TCM can help to improve overall health and well-being and prevent the development of chronic illness.

What can TCM treat?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), acupuncture has been found to be effective in treating a variety of illnesses and disorders. Some of the conditions that can be treated with acupuncture include musculoskeletal disorders such as back pain, neck pain, and osteoarthritis. Acupuncture has also been found to be effective in treating neurological conditions such as headache, migraine, and Parkinson's disease. Additionally, acupuncture can help with respiratory conditions such as asthma, sinusitis, and bronchitis. Digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation, and acid reflux can also be treated with acupuncture.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has also been used to address mental and emotional conditions such as anxiety, depression, and insomnia. The therapy can help to alleviate stress and promote relaxation, which can have a positive impact on mental health.

TCM has also been found to be effective in treating gynecological conditions such as menstrual disorders, infertility, and menopause-related symptoms. Additionally, acupuncture can be used to support addiction recovery and manage chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.

Overall, acupuncture can be a safe and effective treatment option for a wide range of conditions, and it is often used in conjunction with other therapies such as herbal medicine and dietary modifications to provide holistic care.
