During these challenging times after such a long lockdown, many of us are experiencing health problems but are unable to seek treatment as normal. In these circumstances, I have decided to offer online consultations, involving the modalities and techniques of Traditional Chinese Medicine that can be delivered remotely.
Online consultations will consist of a 50 minute Zoom appointment at a pre-arranged time, which you can access using an emailed link. We can then discuss how you are feeling and explore your symptoms as appropriate. There will almost always be a tongue diagnosis (LINK), which is one of the primary diagnostic mechanisms of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
I may then prescribe acupressure, moxa treatment or qigong exercises (please see frequently asked questions) that can help with your symptoms. These exercises and techniques are simple and tailored specifically to you. We will discuss them during the call, and make sure that you can apply the technique or do the exercise correctly.
There may also be a herbal prescription, which can be sent to you via Royal Mail. These herbal powders are tailored to you and stirred into hot water and drunk, so are easy to consume. Herbs are a very easy and effective way of treating a wide variety of conditions, and are charged separately.
Online consultations mean that I can continue to offer all of my experience even during the current indefinite lockdown. Please click here to book an appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is acupressure?
Acupressure is the stimulation of acupuncture points by pushing or rubbing with the thumb or fingers. This therapeutic technique can help you to feel better by stimulating better energy flow through the body, or resolving blockages to it.
What is moxa treatment?
Moxa treatment involves holding a burning stick of special herbs (similar to a large incense stick) over acupuncture points. This can be used as a proxy for acupuncture, and is easy to do at home.
What is qigong?
Qigong exercises can be used to help relieve symptoms and improve energy flow. The movements are gentle and natural, similar to Tai Chi, but much simpler, and can be taught online.
What kind of herbs can I expect?
Herbs are delivered as a ground powder. To prepare, place 2 level teaspoons into ⅓ cup of hot water and wait a few minutes or until the water is lukewarm before drinking. Take twice daily, in the morning and in the evening. More information can be found here.
What is the cost?
Cost can be discussed before booking an appointment.
How do I pay?
At the moment, I can only accept bank transfers, and am working on accepting credit and debit cards in the near future. This will be discussed during your appointment.
